Zubio is Dead

Dear Customers,
It is with the deepest regret that I announce the end of operations of Zubio Chair Massage.

The decision was made yesterday and the speed of our closure reflects our attempt to save as much remaining cash as possible to pay off our employees in full and to reimburse as many of our prepaid Zubio Club members for their remaining minutes as possible.

As many of you know, we have poured our hearts and souls into Zubio for the past five years. When we saw the recession looming last May 2008, we began hunkering down and slashed expenses to try and conserve our resources for what we knew might be a very long down-turn. Our CEO, Sam Keller, left the company in September 2008, and I stopped taking a regular salary in May 2009. We had hoped that optimism would begin to return for this holiday season, but the unemployment numbers have continued to rise and the projections for the retail sector this holiday season are grim.

Zubio reached a plateau of sales from which we have not been able to grow. We have been falling further behind in our obligations and came to the conclusion that it would be better to exit before the holiday season cameĀ  into full swing and we incurred more gift certificate obligations that we might not be able to repay.
